HEB house

Beveren, Belgium, 2018

bespoke interior

The renovation of this terraced house was designed for a large family, with particular attention to achieving a balance between warmth, atmosphere and functionality. The result is a characterful interior in which spaciousness and intimacy reinforce one another.

The ground-floor living area was conceived as a flexible ensemble in which the various functions — study and piano room, lounge area, dining space and kitchen — can either flow together or be separated when desired. This creates a series of intimate spaces without compromising the openness, sightlines or natural light throughout the house.

A continuous custom-built cabinet runs along the entire length of the living space, integrating storage, fireplace, television and library into one coherent architectural element, bringing calmness and unity to the interior.

Above the dining table, a decorative light fixture, designed as a bespoke object, forms a subtle yet defining feature within the space and gently marks the dining area.

The kitchen is organised around a generous central island that not only functions as a workspace, but also serves as an informal dining and gathering place for the family.

On the first floor, the bathroom, dressing room and master bedroom were designed within the same architectural language as the ground floor. Here too, functionality, clarity and spatial openness formed the starting point of the design.
