ZAS residence
Andalucia, Spain, 2016
architecture / bespoke interior
Designed by POLO.platform in collaboration with David Bulckaen (interior design), and executed on behalf of POLO.platform.
Thanks to the pronounced topography of the site, the house integrates discreetly and naturally into its surroundings. The region’s characteristic white architecture, combined with traditional local materials, gives the residence an authentic and timeless character.
The house is conceived around a central L-shaped patio that places outdoor living at the heart of the design. This specific configuration creates sheltered outdoor spaces, allowing comfortable outdoor living even in the presence of strong winds coming from the Atlantic Ocean.
The unusual circulation throughout the house, combined with carefully framed views of the surrounding landscape, ensures that the architecture never reveals itself at a single glance. Instead, the house unfolds gradually, creating a continuous dialogue between interior, exterior, and environment.
